ACM SIGGRAPH's Mission SIGGRAPH's mission is to promote the generation, acquisition, dissemination, and exchange of information and opinion on the theory, design, implementation, and application of computer graphics and interactive techniques to facilitate communication and understanding. The North Carolina Research Triangle ACM SIGGRAPH professional chapter has been serving the RTP area, Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill and surrounding area since March 16, 1993. Although we've had our good and bad times, we are definately in the good times now with a growing number of members, interesting and timely programs, and a growing graphics community in our area. We are commited to the growth and development of computer graphics and will continue to promote our mission into the new millenium. ACM SIGGRAPH's Purpose SIGGRAPH's purpose is to promote the development and application of computer graphics and interactive techniques. SIGGRAPH is about the exchange of ideas among researchers and technology developers through our conferences, publications to advance the technology of computer graphics and interactive techniques. SIGGRAPH is about introducing the latest topics in computer graphics through our conference courses and education committee activities. SIGGRAPH is about providing resources to educators through the development and distribution of curriculum and materials. SIGGRAPH is about the interaction which occurs between an artist and a scientist and leads to more effective visualizations. SIGGRAPH is about a user who can't quite get the graphics product to do what she needs, educating product and technology developers on the needs of the user community and thus helping advance our technology. |
